PDF Tools
1Click Open Document on the dashboard, or drag and drop a PDF onto the hero area.
2The file opens in the workspace. Nothing is uploaded — everything stays in your browser.
3Use the mode tabs (View · Annotate · Tools · AI) to switch between different tools without reloading the document.
Tips
- Fillable form fields are detected automatically — just start typing.
- The page thumbnails sidebar on the left lets you reorder pages via drag and drop.
- Your recently opened files appear under Recent in the sidebar.
1Click Create PDF from the home screen.
2Type or paste your content into the editor. Use the formatting toolbar for headings, bold, lists and more.
3Click Download PDF to save the file to your device.
Tips
- You can drag and drop images into the editor to embed them in the PDF.
- Page size and orientation can be adjusted before downloading.
1Open a PDF in the workspace, then switch to Annotate mode using the tab bar.
2The annotation toolbar appears with tools: Select, Highlight, Sticky Note, Draw, E-Signature, and Eraser.
3Click or drag on the page to annotate. Pick colors from the palette.
4Click Download (top-right) to save the annotated PDF with all annotations baked in.
Tips
- Use Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y to redo.
- Annotations are saved automatically per file — close and reopen to continue where you left off.
- Switch to View mode to hide the annotation toolbar and see the clean document.
1Open a PDF in the workspace, switch to Annotate mode.
2Click the E-Signature tool in the annotation toolbar.
3Draw, type, or upload your visual signature. Click Place Signature.
4Position and resize the signature on the page. Click elsewhere to deselect.
5Download the PDF with the visual signature embedded.
Tips
- For cryptographic signing (privacy signature with ECDSA proof), use Tools → Sign instead.
- Visual signatures can be resized and repositioned by clicking on them.
- Click outside the signature to deselect; click on it again to re-select.
1Open any fillable PDF in the workspace. Form fields are auto-detected — you'll see a floating Fill Mode bar at the bottom.
2Click directly on any field in the PDF to type. Empty fields show a subtle dashed guide.
3Use Prev / Next buttons in the floating bar to navigate between fields.
4Click Flatten & Download to save the filled form as a flat PDF (no editable fields).
Tips
- Form fields are overlaid directly on the PDF — no separate sidebar needed.
- After download, you can continue editing and download again.
- Text you type covers the original placeholder automatically.
1Open a PDF in the workspace, switch to Tools mode, and click Convert. Or use the Convert card on the dashboard.
2Select the target format: Word (.docx), Image (PNG/JPG), Excel, or others.
3Click Convert and download your file.
Tips
- For best Word conversion results, use PDFs with selectable (non-scanned) text.
- Use AI → OCR first if your PDF is a scanned image.
1Click Merge PDFs from the dashboard, or use Tools → Merge inside the workspace.
2Add two or more PDF files using the Add Files button or drag and drop.
3Drag the file cards to reorder them as needed.
4Click Merge and download the combined PDF.
Tips
- There is no limit to the number of files you can merge.
- Page order follows the file order in the list.
1Open a PDF in the workspace, switch to Tools mode, and click Compress. Or use the Compress card on the dashboard.
2Choose a compression level: Low (best quality), Medium, or High (smallest size).
3Click Compress and download the reduced file.
Tips
- PDFs with many high-resolution images see the greatest size reduction.
- Text-only PDFs may not compress significantly.
AI Tools PRO
1Open a PDF in the workspace, switch to AI mode, and click AI Chat. (Pro account required.)
2The AI reads and indexes the document content. A chat panel opens on the right.
3Type your question. The AI answers based strictly on the document content with page references.
4Continue asking follow-up questions — the AI remembers the full conversation context.
Tips
- Ask specific questions for better answers: "What is the payment deadline on page 3?"
- Each chat session uses 1 AI operation from your monthly quota.
- The AI cannot answer questions about information not present in the PDF.
1Open a PDF in the workspace, switch to AI mode, and click Translate. (Pro account required.)
2Select source and target languages in the translation panel.
3The AI translates the text content page by page while preserving layout. Download the translated result.
Tips
- Accepts PDFs, JPG, PNG and WebP. Scanned documents and photos are auto-OCR'd before translation.
- Layout may differ slightly from the original after translation — use a PDF source for the most accurate layout.
Security & Privacy
1Go to Secure Transfer and select the Send File tab.
2Upload your PDF (max 25 MB).
3Enter a strong passphrase that only you and your recipient know.
4Choose expiry (24 hours on Free; 30 days on Pro) and whether to delete after first access.
5Click Encrypt & Generate Link. Share the link and passphrase via separate channels (e.g. link by email, passphrase by SMS).
Security notes
- Files are encrypted with AES-256 in your browser before upload — the server never sees the contents.
- The passphrase is never stored or transmitted; without it the file cannot be decrypted.
- Share link and passphrase separately for maximum security.
1Open the secure link you received (or go to Secure Transfer → Receive File and paste the link/ID).
2Enter the passphrase provided by the sender.
3Click Decrypt & Open PDF. The file is decrypted entirely in your browser and opened instantly.
Tips
- No account is required to receive a file.
- If the link has expired or was already accessed, you'll see an error — contact the sender to resend.
1Open a PDF in the workspace and switch to Tools mode.
2Click Sign. The signing panel opens on the right.
3Enter your name, email, and signing purpose. Check the consent box.
4Click Sign & Download. An ephemeral ECDSA P-256 keypair is generated in your browser, the PDF is hashed with SHA-256, and the hash is signed client-side.
5The signed PDF is downloaded. Only the hash, signature, and public key are sent to the server — the PDF itself is never uploaded.
Important
- This is a privacy-first signature, not a qualified electronic signature (QES).
- Private keys are used once and discarded (guest mode) or encrypted locally with PBKDF2 + AES-GCM (authenticated mode).
- Suitable for business approvals, internal workflows, and document integrity verification.
1Open a signed PDF in the workspace and switch to Tools mode.
2Click Verify. The verification panel checks the document automatically.
3The system computes a SHA-256 hash of the current file, fetches the stored signature, and performs ECDSA verification — all locally in your browser.
Verification states
- Cryptographically Verified — document unchanged, signature valid.
- Document Modified — file has changed since signing.
- Invalid Signature — cryptographic check failed.
- No Signature Found — no signature record exists for this document.
- Verification happens locally — no server involved in the check.
Folders & Recent Files
1Click Folders in the sidebar.
2Click New Folder, give it a name and pick a colour (8 presets or custom).
3Drag any file card from the Recent Files section at the bottom and drop it onto a folder card to assign it.
4Click the ✕ on a file inside a folder to move it back to unassigned.
Notes
- Folder data is stored only in your browser's localStorage — it is never sent to any server.
- Clearing browser data will remove your folders.
The sidebar's Recent section keeps a list of the last 8 files you opened. Click any entry to reload it from your browser's local cache. The file is retrieved from IndexedDB — your browser's built-in storage — so it works offline and nothing is uploaded to any server.
Notes
- Recent history is per-browser and per-device.
- Files are cached for the session. If you clear browser storage, the cache is lost and you'll need to re-upload the file.
- The Chrome extension also shows your recent files and can reopen them with one click.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my files uploaded to any server?
Most tools — Open PDF, Annotate, Sign, Fill Form, Create, Merge, Compress, and Privacy Signature — process files entirely inside your browser. No file data leaves your device. The Privacy Signature system only sends a SHA-256 hash and cryptographic signature — never the PDF itself. AI tools (Chat, OCR, Translation) send extracted text to our AI API for processing; the file is not stored permanently. Secure Transfer encrypts the file in your browser before uploading the ciphertext.
Do I need an account to use PDF Pro?
No account is needed for PDF Tools (Open, Create, Annotate, Sign, Fill Form, Convert, Merge, Compress) or Secure Transfer. A free account unlocks 10 AI operations (Chat, OCR, Translation). A Pro account gives 250 AI operations per month and 30-day secure transfer storage.
What is an "AI operation"?
Each time you use an AI-powered feature (AI Chat session, OCR scan, Image or PDF Translation) it consumes 1 AI operation from your monthly quota. Free accounts get 10 ops; Pro accounts get 250 ops per month. Quota resets at the start of each billing cycle.
Why can't I reopen a recent file?
Recent files are cached in your browser's IndexedDB storage. If you cleared your browser cache, used a different browser, or are on a different device, the cached file won't be available. You'll see the upload zone so you can re-upload the file manually.
Is the Chrome extension required?
No. The extension is optional and adds convenience: it lets you launch any tool from the browser toolbar, shows your recent files, and can open a file directly from your device into any tool with one click. All features are fully available on the web app without the extension.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Go to Dashboard → Billing and click Cancel Subscription. Your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.
My PDF looks different after converting/compressing — why?
Some formatting may change during conversion (especially complex layouts, fonts, or embedded objects). Compression at high levels re-samples images which can slightly reduce visual quality. For archival-quality documents, use Low compression.
